Why choose SATBrothers?
Nobody combines commitment and expertise with affordability and accessiblity like us. If you go with a large agency, you’ll be paying a premium to work with an underpaid and underqualified tutor. This business is entirely owned and operated by us, which means our incentives are aligned with yours.
Do you offer in-person tutoring?
Our model is designed primarily for the online format, but upon request we are happy to consider working together in-person.
Do you offer a score improvement guarantee?
No. While some businesses make big promises, these promises always come with asterisks. For example, some agencies hide under fine print qualifiers (“must complete every homework assignment perfectly”) while others require outsized proof of a student’s worse than expected score to receive refunds. Instead, we emphasize an approach to teaching that maximizes a student’s growth without setting an arbritrary floor for improvement.
Will there be homework?
Yes! We administer homework after every session designed to ingrain the skills and concepts communicated in session. Don’t worry, these assignments are designed to be relatively quick and easy, so your student won’t be drawn away from their busy schedule. If your student is especially motivated and would like additional work outside of class on top of the assigned homework, we are happy to provide extra practice.
Why is the SAT important?
A high score on the SAT opens doors that would otherwise be closed. Acceptances to elite schools, full tuition scholarships, and robust aid packages are par for the course for a student who manages to score highly. We believe that doing well on the SAT can transform the trajectory of your life.
Our Approach
Many tutors employ a diagnostic test with the goal of gaining access to a student’s breadth and depth of understanding. However, the traditional way in which this diagnostic is constructed—as a shallow facsimile of the real test—gives the tutor little valuable insight. This is because, in a brief multiple-choice quiz, it’s not possible to accurately capture the full extent of a student’s relevant strengths and weaknesses. Our solution? Change the format by incorporating open response directly into the diagnostic. This subtle change allows us to test the student for both breadth and depth of comprehension quickly and accurately. Ultimately, this lets us develop an informed plan before the first session: streamlining the score improvement process and saving you money.
We build each student a curated improvement plan based on the results of their diagnostic. The plan is structured such that we spend the first sessions shoring up their most relevant weaknesses. Then, we continue to work in this fashion so that our time together is spent as efficiently as possible in pursuit of their goal. In practice, this looks like interactive lectures followed by guided problem solving and review. Each student receives our full attention both inside and outside of session. Our History
Max and Jack have spent the better part of the last year learning the SAT from the inside out. Before coming together to launch SATBrothers, they took their knowledge directly to students for industry leading test prep businesses. Max tutored the test on VarsityTutors and was given a 4.9 star rating on average by his students. Jack worked as a volunteer tutor for KhanAcademy’s Schoolhouse initiative to gain valuable experience and help in-need students. During his time as a volunteer, he likewise received an average rating of 4.9 stars.
Max
Max teaches the Reading and Writing section. He is a student at Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois pursuing a double major in Philosophy and Creative Writing. He scored a 770 on the Reading and Writing section of the 2026 June SAT.
Jack
Jack teaches the Math section. He graduated from Monomoy High School in 2024. He scored a perfect 800 on the math section of the 2026 May SAT. In his free time he likes to read, play tennis, and play chess.
